test of the hospital, although with towers its very hard to get a clear overview of space. maybe the rooftop/exercise yard would be better?

here i think its interesting to develop a square which is highly defined as a public square. so at this altitude its only the lowest level of confinement that creates a dialogue with the public realm.
in this case its located on the site of the new opera. i haven't figured out exactly why but I feel it has potential to work with my concept...

what i think is interesting is their prominent location in high density areas but completely internalised. i think it would be good to dive more into detail: the characteristics of the different typologies, especially the issue of the threshold 'prison vs city'. with a bit more research, this might be a good starting point for my manifest...?

i thought this to be a nice counterpart of the CCTV stuff. So the prison could be rendered as desirable object for the city? just a try...


for the tower, I am still experimenting with the finish of the surface and the details of edges. in this test, the vertical texture I think dramatises scale and oppression. a better alternative might be to use texture and detail as a more intentional strategy to provoke and reinforce use and experience of different areas throughout the prison.

subtracted from the building volume, the church is composed mainly out of glass and steel: an inversion of the massive concrete structure of the towers containing cells. the intention for the remaining spaces of rehabilitation is to have a similar architectural language, yet to read a volumatic hierarchy from top to bottom. opposite to the constriction of the towers...
