ps where's the dumby's guide to techy forums?
Planning to create 4 storyboards a la Superstudio: (a mockup of the first is below)
1) notion of contemporary iconic and "project supersurface" solution. (see below image and description)
2) Program is the new iconic.
3) Surface moments defining program and massing of people - simple volume and developable surfaces.
4) Type of space required by each program and the resulting surface articulation.
Superstudio made 4 such storyboards accompanying the Continuous Monument series describing the processes involved in designing the monument.
Storyboard talks about contemporary notion of iconic ness and how although a new tower maybe 'grander', taller or more expensive ad therefore 'iconic', as other towers spring up and multiply, the iconic ness becomes dilluted until what's left is another generic office typology. The new typology lines waterfronts and strips generating a continuous uniterrupted surface pattern of concrete and window. "Project Supersurface" pushes the continuous homogeneity, washing out all detail until what's left is a masterplan of smooth thin strips that stretches to the horizon.
need to sort out a few photoshop issues but laser cutting background tomorrow..
This is a rough layout idea for the plate that talks about new artificial urban city (sheets rather than blocks). Its very rough..
