Manifesto
The Church of the XXI Century is in a multicultural society. This society ruled by the laws of consumption has substituted the use of public space with virtual platforms such as interactive chat rooms. The Church of the XXI Century should be a physical public space for everyone. It is place to pray for believers. It is a place to reflect for non-believers. It is a place to interact within the city.
The Church of the XXI century has non hierarchical entrances because is a dynamic structure that adapts to its vibrant and varied environment. Its form, scale and materiality create paths of light and shadow to overload the senses.
The Church of the XXI Century has an outstanding aura. The man of the XXI Century can explore the dynamic aura by discovering spaces (open, enclose, transitions) that change as light creates them.
Formal Manifesto
The history of the churches has used the cutting edge technology and the most innovative ideas of their time. The XXI Century Technology provides an opportunity to invent new forms with materials that are environmentally friendly. The curve and the oblique permit to change the forces in the planes in a continuous and smooth way wrapping space from floor, wall and ceiling in an in gravity manner. The flexibility of the tectonic movement allows for mix activities but especially it communicates a sequentional continuous space.
The height; concave and convex form; density and articulation of the material; and proximity of walls are the parameters that will create a palette of events to generate the variety of spaces and transitions in the specific site.
Manifesto
The Church of the XXI Century is in a cosmopolitan society that is ruled by the laws of consumption and has substitute the use of public space with interactive platforms. The Church of the XXI Century is a physical public space for everyone. It is a place to pray for the believers. It is a place to reflect for the non-believer. It is a place to interact with people in the urban fabric.
The Church of the XXI Century prepares the man of the XXI Century to enter into a grandiose non-material space by a mystic transition stage which dialogues with the surroundings and finally disconnects him from it. The collective main space is immediately surrounded by smaller enclosures for intimate spiritual thinking and others in and outdoor spaces for non religious activities that integrate the sacred space to the specific society and offer new opportunities for its cultural development.
The Church of the XXI Century doesn’t have a defined shape because the XXI Century Technology is intelligent and allows inventing new forms with materials that are environmentally friendly. The Church of the XXI Century has various entrances non hierarchical so it adapts to the fast changeable and mixed environment. The preparation to enter into the main space is created by the manipulation of the material physical qualities in terms of form, scale and density which generates a palette of lights and shadows that guides and activates the over manipulated sensations.
Formal Manifesto
The history of the churches has used the cutting edge technology and the most innovative ideas of their time. The Technology of the XXI Century allows inventing new forms. The curve and the oblique are the two new ingredients to play and explore its transformations through space. They permit to change the forces in the planes in a continuous and smooth way wrapping space from floor, wall and ceiling in an in gravity manner. The flexibility of the tectonic movement allows for mix activities but overall communicates a sequentional continuous experience.
The height; concave and convex form; density and articulation of the material; and proximity are the parameters that will create a palette of events to generate the three types of spaces and transitions in the specific site.
Application of form in the manifesto
Strategy to go from mystic to glory space is to create a contrast of space qualities:
-Close proximity versus openness.
-Low ceiling versus high.
-Wall versus ceiling.
-Dense versus in materiality.
-Concave versus convex.
-Light versus shadow.
