Lunchtime beam geometry

| | Comments (0)

The geometry is a so called corner reflector, reflects all rays back in the same angle,

should create a reflected beam. I checked the sun angle in Carrara, so the angle of

the geometry is fine, what defines its position in the quarry. there will be a kind of

non accesible zone around it, because it will become pretty hot, i guess.

The ray will be reflected around 1-1,5 hours in june and about 20-30 minutes in

dezember (if my calculations are right), when the sun is in the right position to make

the reflection work and then disappear.

I just guessed the size of the triangles, will research on that

In-between

Since the previous 3 effects are short, the quarry will glow in a wierd way over the rest of the daytime.

First geometry test will be posted soon.

Scenario: Good Morning Sunshine

| | Comments (0)

Morning sun reflection is a mix between diffuse reflection ("glow") and specular reflection ("beam").

It will reflect a "beam" towards the city and have some glow in its point of origin.

Now i will work on the geometries to somehow enable this effects.

Tunnel Cutting Blade Saw

This super cool saw cuts tunnels, maximum cutting depth is 2meters.

Diamond Wire Saw

This is the other used cutting technique, cutting size is very big, there are wires up to 70meters in length.

Diamond Blade Saw

This is one of the most used marble cutting machines. It cuts depths up to 4,8 meters

horizontally and vertically.

Cave di Marmo del Bacino di Miseglia

Just found this possible site. Looks great: it is ugly, a obsolete marble quarry, visible from Carrara and surrounding towns and from the seaside. See if I find more information.
