Man tried to reach God through architecture and invention.
He failed
Today man no longer even sees a God to reach,
and so the Church has decided to use architecture and invention to bring God to Man.
It is doomed to fail. Beautifuly.
So in the end it is the Church's tower of babel.
Isn't it more that tried in imitate god architecture and invention? Just something to think about...
Sorry was meant to read: Isn't it more that man tried to imitate god in architecture and invention? (rather than reach god through it?)
The whole perfect geometry of the church, it's supposed to be godly right? "Geometry is the foundation.. it is also the material basis on which we build those symbols which represent to us perfection and the divine" Corb. City of tomorrow
And even trying to imitate nature in ornamentation, isn't that trying to be like god through imitation.
My thought here is that architects, men, try to turn themselves into gods. But perhaps man brings himself closer to god through imitation anyway.
